Any updates regarding serial port operation under J2ME?
I have a Samsung SPH-A500 and have seen the following so far:
1. The SPH-A500 has both a USB port and a serial port.
2. The USB port is essentially a modem and once you have the drivers installed you can connect using ADTDT #7777 and then you get a PPP link.
3. The serial port can at least be used for phonebook, ringer & picture uploading. It runs at 9600 baud and does NOT use the familiar AT command set - in fact, if you send ASCII to it, it ignores you. I use Snapsync software and cable (the cable has a built-in USB-to-serial converter) to upload phonebook data.
4. The chipset in the SPH-A500 is this or close to this

Hope this starts some serial comm dialog...
