Quoting from a post at developer.sprintpcs.com:

Sprint toolkit is basically sun's toolkit with two extra packages under com.sprintpcs
Here is what I did:
1. Install j2me from SUN under Linux
2. Install the sprintpcs wireless toolkit under Windows
3. Copy from the windows installation the file lib/sprintapi.zip overwriting the lib/midpapi.zip under the Linux installation
4. Now you can run the ktoolbar on linux and build apps from sprint PCS using both standard SUN apis and Sprint PCS extensions (like MUGLETs)

Following this path, I discovered that the current Sun WTK 2.1 does not have a lib/midpapi.zip ... So, do I need an earlier version, or was the oringinal poster mistaken? BTW, using the plain ol Sun wtk I was able to compile Mr Franz's hello world applet and run it on my 8100.
